Field Training Exercise at Rockwood Conservation Area

Event Details:

The 676 will be participating in a Nav-Trek camping weekend at Rockwood Conservation Area.   Cadets will be learning and practicing navigation in the field.  Cadets will be using a map and compass and GPS units.  There will also be canoeing and hiking.

Health & Fitness Requirements

Your Cadet must be free of sickness or injuries that would affect their participation in this event.  Cadets that are not able to fully participate in this event are not authorized to attend.



Friday 1 June

 1730 Cadets arrive at the Armoury

 1800 Bus departs Georgetown for Rockwood

Sunday 3 June

 1300 Bus departs Rockwood for Georgetown

 1430 Cadets dismissed at the Armoury

Cadets must bring the following items:

Cadets should be prepared for cold weather.

  1. Health card (your health card must be presented to board the bus)
  2. Canteen/holder/belt
  3. Clothing for outdoor activities.- weather appropriate sufficient for 3 days including:
  1. Rain gear - jacket and pants
  2. Combat clothing must be worn for Friday and will be required for night navigation camouflage and concealment exercise.
  3. Running shoes/Hiking boots suitable for cold, wet and mud conditions.
  4. Folding Camp type chair labelled with cadets' name on chair and bag.
  5. Flashlight
  6. Toothbrush, soap, shampoo, towel
  7. Sunscreen
  8. Sunglasses
  9. Hat (mandatory)
  10. Sleeping bag (Mandatory)/pillow/sleeping pad
  11. Personal Bike Helmet (optional)
